Greene County 4-H members are reminded to mark their calendars with dates for training and testing in the Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) certification program.
All youngsters exhibiting beef, dairy (cattle and goat), meat goat, rabbit, poultry, sheep or swine at the Greene County Fair and Iowa State Fair must attend a training or test to become certified in the 4-H FSQA program for the 2016-17 4-H year.
4-H members in grades 4-6 must get their initial certification or recertification by attending training. 4-H members in grades 7-9 may take the training or pass an intermediate test. 4-H members in grades 9-12 may take the training or pass a senior test.
Testing dates are Thursday, Feb. 23, from 3 to 5:30 pm; or Thursday, March 23, from 3 to 5:30 pm. Training dates are Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 7:30 pm; Thursday, March 23, from 6 to 7:30 pm, or Saturday, May 27, from 8 to 10:30 am.
4-H members are asked to notify the Extension staff of which session they plan to attend by calling 515-386-2138 or emailing khyett@iastate.edu.
Changes in the FSQA program will be effective for the 2017-18 4-H year. 4-H members who have questions can call the Extension office.
